Here’s a full list of our Occupational Driving Courses:
Driver Mentor Training Course
A Driver Mentor, is a selected individual for example; an H&S Manager / Fleet Administrator with the skills & confidence to support the company driver training programme and the staff for whom they have responsibility.
It is crucial that the driver training programme and its purposes are cascaded down through the company. Driver Mentor Training is a way of ensuring that there are individuals within your organisation who have a full understanding and appreciation. They may also be utilised for a level of risk assessment or ‘mentoring’ of drivers whom it is felt need assistance in reaching acceptable and safe standards of driving.
Our course is designed to develop the assessment skills of a supervisor or in-house trainer/assessor and prepare him/her to undertake internal driving assessments on colleagues or potential employees in support of the company driver training programme.
Company Driver Safety Seminar
These courses are classroom based interactive seminars designed to be both enjoyable and educational for the delegates. Our presenters will aim to provoke thought, stimulate appropriate discussions and act as a facilitator in order to raise both personal and corporate awareness. The seminar will explore individual attitudes to driving as well as illustrate the risks that people take on the roads and drivers will learn about the root causes of accidents and actions they need to take in order to avoid them. Maintain current knowledge and learn about new laws e.g. “The new Drug Driving Law” effective from 2nd March 2015.
Driver Awareness Training
Our courses are conducted in-vehicle; (at the company’s discretion) following a short interactive presentation or as longer on road coaching session in the vehicle the driver would use on company business. The session is “not” a test; the trainer will concentrate on coaching drivers to develop real world bespoke strategies required to improve “their” risk perception and decision making processes.
In-vehicle driver training is universally recognised as the single most effective way to reduce driver related incidents; driver training is designed to achieve two main objectives: To develop greater risk perception skills & hazard awareness. Therefore reducing the driver’s potential vulnerability to collisions, the risk of personal injury & reducing the overall cost of damage to the vehicle.
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
Drivers who drive larger vehicles “professionally” must complete periodic training every five years.
Trailer Training
If your drivers passed their car licence after January 1997 they can only tow small trailers weighing no more than 750kg. If they are required to tow heavier trailer then the must take a DVSA category E (Trailer) driving test. We can provide either refresher trailer training or bespoke trailer training for the DVSA driving test.
Advanced Driving
If you wish to take your driving standards to the next level, why not consider taking your Institute of Advanced Motorist (IAM) or Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents RoDAR tests? Roadcraft is the higher level of driving is the same taught to our emergency services.
UK Familiarisation Training
If your organisation has drivers from outside the UK you may need to consider if they require further training to drive on company business or for personal use. You would also need to consider if they are legal to drive in the UK with their current licence.

Bruce has both presented active workshops and practical in car training to all our driver on driver safety. Bruce provided valuable insights into the way all drivers sometimes are not fully aware of what they are doing or things going on around them. His in car training made all our drivers more aware of how to proactively drive in a safer and more fuel efficient way. A number of our car drivers have said that this training provided was invaluable in their day to day driving. Furthermore our accident rate has fallen by 36% during the period of Bruce’s involvement which has helped control our car insurance premiums. Bruce Wood has been invaluable in making driver safety an integral part of our company
